Pin-Emp by JohnStaton Pin-Emp by JohnStaton
Empowered in a pin-up-y show of strength, as she prances around with a 8,000 hp top fuel dragster engine.

I just started this out as a sketch in preparation for drawing Adam Warren's titillating titular character, for my work in the Empowered Special #4:Animal Style, coming to a comic store near you this coming June 5th. (Gotta get that floggery in, folks. ;))

In part, this drawing was inspired by an old Six Million Dollar Man action figure, I had as a kid. To demonstrate bionic strength, the figure came with a scale engine block, for it to lift when you pressed the orange button on its back.

I resisted the urge to put Emp in a red track suit. ;p

it looks like she's wearing her costume from when she had that job cosplaying as herself...

Yea, I can totally see that. This is one of the first drawings I ever did of Emp; long before I got the hang of the whole wrinkle-free aspect of the outfit. ^^;

Talk about your good news and bad news. How is your wife doing? I hope it's nothing life threatening.

Oh God, I remember that toy. You could see through its eye.

Indeed. In retrospect, I'm surprised that 8 year old me didn't find that toy more creepy, with that hole in its head. :XD:

It's nice to see a happy Emp.
At least no one has asked her to be a car model...no doubt she wouldn't feel all smiley having to pose on a hood of some guy's ride.

I was thinking about doing something like that, with Emp dressed as a racing queen with an umbrella.

I can't decide whether to put her in a short little racing queen outfit with her mask so folks will recognize her, or just her costume. :plotting:

You could do both. Do one of Emp as the college aged woman earning extra money modeling that has her on the hood of a "real" looking car. She would be undercover of course.
Then do a mirror image one of her as Emp on a slightly more "heroic" and unrealistic car.

Hmmm, I am actually considering drawing her in her college age hoodie. ;p [link]
