More sketches and floggery to promote Empowered Special #4: Animal Style
, which will be in your local comic book store this coming June 5th. (Order it avariciously!!)
Since it's Easter, I thought it would be fun to post the Animal Style
gang's command-and-control Landmate1
, the festively designed Maul Bunny
Essentially, a titanium bathysphere, mounted with powerful hydraulic legs and armored manipulators, the Maul Bunny
does not pack the offensive punch of other Animal Style
. It is designed primarily move rapidly around a battle space, observe positions and movements of all combatants, and relay such data to the more heavily armed mecha of its squadron. It carries out this function with a prodigious COTTONTAIL3
sensor array mounted on the aft of its bathysphere module.
can track and up to 1,000 separate targets, and lock onto them, allowing every friendly mecha in a battle space to address enemies outside of their individual detection spheres.
Although the Maul Bunny
retracting tungsten carbide blades, housed in its manipulator "paws"
, it possesses no other ranged or offensive weapons. It's the machine's ability to maximize the combat efficiency of entire groups
of combat mecha, that makes it stand out--or "hop" out
, as the case my be, 1.) Landmate: Big honkin' robot, driven by a human operator, usually seated in the torso. Featured prominently in the manga, Appleseed, by the divine Masamune Shirow.
2.)Mecha: Generic term for any internally piloted, anthropomorphic machine--of which I am the master. (Or so it says in the ad copy. )
3.) COTTONTAIL: COordination, Target Telemetry and Overview Nodule, for TActical Information and Logistics.
